There are various sources of calories which include; carbohydrates, proteins and fat. A bodybuilder needs to ensure that they maintain a proper blend of carbohydrates and proteins because they usually offer best results in terms of increasing muscle growth when they are served together in one meal. If you did biology, then I bet you can recall that proteins are the building blocks of muscles. If you try to succeed in bodybuilding without proteins will be like trying to build a house made of bricks without first acquiring the bricks.

2. Don’t do aerobic exercises

When you perform aerobic exercises you are only lowering the chances of increasing your body mass. Aerobic exercises lead to the depletion of glycogen and branched chain amino acids which are very useful for a bodybuilder seeking to increase body mass.

3. Perform intense weight training

You need to perform intense training which should involve lifting heavy weights with few reps. You need to do some stretching exercises before doing any intense training. Prior to undertaking any intense workout it is usually recommended that you perform a bit of stretching exercises. When you are practicing weightlifting exercises you need to use very heavy loads in order to reach muscle overload. And when you are lifting these heavy loads they could accidentally land on you and cause you serious injuries. The best way to this sort of injuries is to increase your muscle flexibility so that you can better handle heavy weights.

4. Eat fish and red meat

Red meat and certain types of fish such as salmon are especially important for a bodybuilder because they contain omega three fatty acids. This nutrient is useful in enhancing the sensitivity of muscles to insulin intake, promoting the storage of glycogen, and also enhancing the absorption of amino acids by the muscles.

5. Rest

If you want to increase your body mass you need to take plenty of rest period when you are working out. You should ensure that you sleep a minimum of eight hours.
