Every man hitting the gym is looking to improve his overall physique. However, many guys stifle their progression to a better body by overlooking some of the simple and basic fundamentals of weight-training and bodybuilding. 1. Cardio
Most men get caught up in trying to put up as much weight as possible forgetting how important cardiovascular fitness is for bodybuilding. Every workout should include a fairly significant cardiovascular exercise. This could be 10-20 minutes jogging outside or on a treadmill, a short ride on a stationary bike, or could even be blended into a weight-training session as a high- intensity circuit routine. Any serious bodybuilder should also dedicate at least one workout a week to a high-intensity cardio routine. Cardiovascular fitness is essential for keeping the fat off, and ensuring you are fit enough to build muscle. 

2. Variety 
Doing the same exercises over and over again will yield diminishing benefits. Our muscles will get used to certain motions and the more we workout with the same exercises, the less those exercises produce results. Mix it up in your training routine. Explore as many different exercises as possible to keep your muscles confused and workouts challenging. 

3. Flexibility
Many bodybuilders do not stretch enough. Proper muscle mobility helps to prevent injury and promote proportional muscle growth. Try doing yoga every once and awhile, and always stretch before and after any workout. 

4. Technique
Always lift with proper technique. Time and time again people injure themselves in the gym by working out without really knowing what they’re doing. Take the time to learn proper weight training technique, and your results will show even and powerful muscle development. 

5. Diet
This is a crucial aspect to any weight-training regimen. Bodybuilders often require significantly higher amounts of protein than the average person, and not all proteins are equal. If you are taking protein supplements, make sure that they include all of the essential amino acids. You also need to make sure your diet is low in fat, sugar, and rich in fiber. 

6. Determination and Motivation
In order to really achieve positive results, you must be consistent with your workout plan and make a habit of hitting the gym at least 5 days a week. Good physique does not come overnight, so you must really want it, and be willing to work for it.

7. Avoid Fitness Fads
Don’t jump on the bandwagon of the newest fitness trends. Stick to the traditional, time proven methods of becoming a supreme physical being. Don’t use Men’s Health magazine as your bible.

8. Find a Partner
It is much easier to stick to and achieve your fitness goals if you share them with someone. Not only will this help keep you motivated, but it will make your workouts much more enjoyable.
