american bodybuilders American BodybuildersWhen average people think of the most famous of the American Bodybuilders, they often think of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

But perhaps the most accomplished has been the unbelievably massive Ronnie Coleman.

Even Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime would be outclassed in size and definition by him. He has also won more titles, including the Mr. Olympia title, than Schwarzenegger.

Ronald Dean Coleman, affectionately called “Ronnie” by his fans, was born in Louisiana on May 13, 1964. While there are many huge bodybuilders, he has raised the bar on “freakish size and strength.”

Although, Ronnie Coleman has lost the Mr. Olympia title in recent years to Jay Cutler, he should not be considered a has-been.

Coleman has won the Mr. Olympia eight times. He shares this honor with only one other man in the world, the “totally awesome” Lee Haney. After Haney’s victory, it was not believed possible, considering how fierce the competition is in today’s bodybuilding scene, that anyone would come close to this level of physical perfection and accomplishment.

Coleman also holds the title for the most IFBB professional wins. These total 26 wins. This smashed the previous record held by another American Bodybuilder, Vince Taylor, who had a total of 22 wins.

Besides his bodybuilding fame, Coleman was a well-known college football player, playing for the Grambling State University Tigers under the famous coach, Eddie Robinson.

Coleman, an educated man, with a degree in accounting from Grambling State University, has also had a distinguished career as a police officer.

A supporter of the Inner City Games, Coleman has worked hard to improve the lives of underprivileged youth. In fact, in 2001, Texas Governor Rick Perry awarded Coleman the Admiral Texas Navy Certificate for outstanding success in promoting physical fitness in the United States.

The most exciting news for bodybuilders is that Coleman is planning on a comeback. On MuscleSport Radio, June 30, 2009, he publicly declared he will enter the 2010 Mr. Olympia, giving reigning champion, Jay Cutler, something to worry about other than “the blade” Dexter Jackson. Coleman confirmed this in Darwin, Australia, on October 10, 2009. Should he win, he will be the only man in the history of Bodybuilding to have 9 Mr. Olympia titles.

Ronnie Coleman is not only the finest of the American Bodybuilders but he inspires his competition to work even harder just to stay in the same class as him.
