Adequate rest becomes one of the most important secrets of building muscle. Far too many people assume that if they hit the gym nonstop seven days a week, they will end up with large muscle mass. This just is not the case. Instead, atrophy will result due to the muscles being overworked and not given the proper rest time to grow. This is why you need to limit your workouts to one hour a day, four days a week. The reduced schedule will certainly yield better results.

The legendary bodybuilding mogul Joe Weider once quipped that diet was the main key to successful muscle growth. He is absolutely right in this regard. In order to build muscle mass, you will need to eat a high amount of protein since it is the building block of all muscle. It is also necessary to eat as clean of a diet as possible since you do not want one that will add a lot of fat to your frame. This will cover up all your muscle with a layer of fat creating a less than desirable physique to be sure.

And while adequate rest is important, a lacking approach to working out in the gym is not a good one. There comes a time when it is necessary to kick things up a few notches and incorporate high intensity training strategies in the mix. At some point, your muscles will become used to the same old workout that you employ. This is not something that you want for the obvious reason. You want to shock them into growth.

Here is one of the muscle building secrets some will find helpful in this regard: you could merely switch your workout as opposed to making it a high intensity one. Sometimes, the mere act of changing the type of workout you perform is all that is needed to shock the muscles into new growth. It is hard to stimulate muscle growth with the same workout over and over again. That is why variety is so very important and so strongly recommended.
