One of the critical requirements for an effective bodybuilding program is the adherence to a healthy dietary regimen. One needs to eat foods that not only provide the body with the raw power to go through workouts but also the ability to repair the torn muscles and to help them develop. These meals should not be taken all at once. They need to be spread out all over the day for maximum absorption by the body. It is during the resting period that muscles repair and develop. This is promoted by the foods that are consumed by the athlete.

The first ingredient in this list of bodybuilding foods is beef. 100 grams of beef contain as much as 30 grams of vital proteins. These proteins are of the BV variety. These proteins are readily absorbed into the body and used in the synthesis of proteins. Silverside lean is the beef variety that contains the most amount of protein and the least amount of fat. Cooking beef by roasting is one of the best ways to prepare it as this method uses the least oil.

Alternatively you can stir fry the beef together with onions and vegetables in olive oil. Eggs are next on this list of foods. As a power food, eggs are most suitable. The egg white does not contain any fat. Although the yolk is rich in cholesterol, it provides the essential Omega 3 fats. Additionally, eggs have the complete profile of amino acids. They are rich in proteins. A single egg has as much as six grams of protein; three in the yolk and three in the white. Eggs can be prepared using a variety of different methods including boiling and scrambling. Eggs are available everywhere. They are cheap to buy and can keep enough stock in the house instead of buying them one by one. Poultry meat is another wonderful source of lean proteins.

Chicken and turkey meat is a great source of proteins. This meat is readily available and affordable. You can obtain 30 grams of protein from 100 grams of chicken meat. Some parts of chicken meat including the thigh are high in fat but it is okay if you also eat the skin. Poultry meat can be prepared in a number of ways also. It tastes good when roasted, fried or as accompaniments in sandwiches and salads.

Fish is another important food for any bodybuilder. Fish meat is rich in protein and Omega 3 fats. It is very low in fats. The only disadvantage is that fish meat is quite expensive but if you can access some twice a week that would be really fine. Tuna fish is one of the most available. It is rich in protein and often comes in cans that can be easily carried around. Each can of tuna will easily supply you with as much as 30 grams of protein.

Finally we can’t ignore soy and milk. These are protein rich drinks that can be used to accompany the aforementioned foods. A glass of milk can supply you with as much as 8 grams of protein. Stick to the pasteurized or low fat types of milk.
