building mass workout Building Mass WorkoutBefore we begin to discuss the “how” and “what” of building mass on your body there comes one main theme to consider – commitment. The idea of saying you would like to build mass is one thing; to go back and do the same thing everyday is not the way to accomplish this rather arduous task. This is not a hobby for the weekend athlete or the weak minded. To say it another way, this will be a life altering event. The methods used to accomplish this goal of building mass can and will injure the person who is not already at some level of superior physical fitness. This highly demanding workout is probably best suited for the person who is already an athlete.

First, remember if one wants to add mass to their body they must eat and eat large. On this journey of a mass building workout one can not and will not achieve their goal if they eat yogurt, tofu and tuna out of a can. This means that you must consume mass quantities of red meat, candy bars, donuts, chips (not the low fat versions either), foods with heavy cream, butter and whole milk. Foods that are high in caloric value and protein dense foods will help to achieve body mass build up. It is also recommended that you eat 6 smaller meals a day versus the “standard” 3 meals per day; this will aid in developing the right kind of fat.

The next step for a building mass workout is the amount of rest one gives to their body. Yes, believe it or not rest will help to gain the muscle mass one seeks. People need to realize that it’s not the actual use of the weight training that creates the muscles, but it is the amount of rest one gets. When one uses the weights in their training routine the weights are actually breaking down the muscles, not building them up. It is during rest that the muscle fibers are built. If you give the body ample time to rest you will achieve optimal results. The more time spent in the gym means that much more time resting.

The last means to gain a building mass workout is the physical training. To begin with the idea that one’s body gets used to doing a certain routine is absolutely correct. Once the body senses a routine it will no longer react, always keep the body guessing. One must push the envelope by increasing the weights or the number of reps in order to tell the body you need more muscle. One must exercise more than one muscle group at a time by doing complex exercises.
