Not every one who hits the gym comes back the following year. Actually that’s even an achievement, there are people who hit the gym religiously for a month or less and then hit the road. We all go to the gym for different reasons and aim at achieving different goals. Some people hit the gym because the doctor told them that their lives depend on it. Others want to look good in a bikini or muscle shirts come next summer. For some they simply want to lead a healthy lifestyle and keeping fit is part of this. There are of cause the few who become so good at it that it becomes a career. Bodybuilding pays their mortgage and their kids’ college fee. Whatever the reason as to why you hit the gym, here are some tips that will make your workouts at the gym more effective and ensure that you become consistent at it.
If your gym doesn’t meet these requirements, your first move should be ditching it and signing up for a good gym. My definition of a good gym is a gym that is personalized for you. This applies especially when it comes to location. Get a gym that is either a walking distance from your house or just a few blocks drive from your car. Working out with your spouse and kids can also make bodybuilding more fun. It also gives your family yet another angle and opportunity to know each other more. Probably your big sister gets a nice mood when working out and it might be a good opportunity to ask something or break the news as to how you broke her i-pod! The gym should also be clean, well ventilated and must not have too many people signed up. You should actually consider going to the gym during off-peak hours as there are less people then and you get the undivided attention of your trainer.
A gym partner that is almost custom made for you. It is important to have a gym partner who will help you do your last rep when you’re tired as hell. He will give you the motivation to finish that last lap and give you a pat on the shoulder when you get it done. They will ensure that you come to the gym consistently and also punctually. Since the trainer can’t watch you as you workout the whole day because of many people who also want his attention too, it is your gym partner who will keep an eye on you. He’ll correct you when your technique is all wrong and will prevent you from injuring yourself. They are also the first to give you first aid in the case of an injury as a person more qualified to handle injuries arrives.
Finally, get some nice music and make your own customized play list that will keep your groove on as you workout. Music will distract you from your tiring muscles and a good song will help you get through your last rep a lot better than you can imagine.
