A sprinter athlete requires great strength and ability to achieve a great speed within a short period of time. This means that the athlete should be able to carry his or her weight on the track with a lot of ease. To be able to achieve this, the athlete needs to engage in weight training plans that will get to ensure that he or she meets the correct body weight to achieve the best aerodynamics on track.
The weight training programs are neither easy to conduct or maintain and requires a lot of discipline on the part of the athlete. The athlete has to be committed to the weight training programs ensuring that he or she sticks the strict guidelines of the programs. The weight training programs requires clear timelines of activities to be done within a strict, stipulated time. Although most of these training programs do not require a lot of resources to sustain, quite a large number of them are resource intensive. They require heavy investment in the training facilities. These include the training gears, training equipment, and experienced well trained coaches to handle the training program. All of which basically depends on the financial capability of the investor.
Some of the weight training programs are either ran by the government or private investors. The distributions of the weight training programs for athletes are nevertheless scarce and sparsely distributed in most parts of the world. This has led to most athletes calling for the establishment of more weight training programs to carter for the increasing number of athletes. Just recently, there are number of investors who have committed themselves to expand the few training programs while others have shown some level of interest in establishing new ones.
The outcome of the above measures to overcome the shortages mentioned above still not yet forthcoming considering the level of investment and government will required in the development of such programs, more so; the facilities. The problem is so common in developing countries than in developed countries where there is a dire competition between the limited resources. This is also compounded by the weak or non-existing policy or legislative framework to assist in nurturing the flourishing of such programs.
The weight training plans nevertheless have been acknowledged to improve the level of athletes’ performance. It is in this regard that most coaches have embarked on these training methods to bring a turnaround performance effects on athletes. In short, the programs have been a great success!
