The first time I started working out I had never even heard of body types. If you had asked me a couple of years ago what a body type is, I would’ve said fat, slim and medium. Then how to feed of cause fat body type should eat less calories and workout more. The slim type should eat more calories and also workout a lot to pump muscles. The medium weight person can easily find a compromise somewhere in the middle. The same way there are different types of fuel for different cars also applies to the human bodies. You can’t put jet oil in the engine of a sports car no matter how fast you want it to go. This applies in every aspect of bodybuilding too. There are different foods, supplements and even training exercises that are most effective for a certain body type.
Phenotype is a word that’s used to describe the observable physical and biological characteristics of an organism; in our case humans of cause. There are three different phenotypes where every person can be classified under. Under each of them there is also a specification of what to eat and also even the intensity of your training.
Mesomorphs have an athletic appearance and very good posture. They have the advantage of being able to loose and gain weight relatively easily. They can also gain muscles without adding fat. Emphasis in their diet should be on protein. Eat small but frequent meals spread throughout the day. Eat most of your carbohydrates for the day during breakfast. It’ll be used to provide energy for your body without having it stored as fat. Don’t even think about high glycemic carbs, they just might not work for you. The most effective training for Mesomorphs is heavy weight training. Cardio should be done at least twice every week for at least 20 minutes per session.
Endomorphs have the ability of accumulating a higher body fat than the other phenotypes. It is more difficult for them to tone their bodies and loose weight. The advantage that they have over the other two is that their bone structure is quite is bigger and this amplifies the size of their muscles and bodies when they workout. Their metabolism isn’t as high as that of the Mesomorphs. Cardio is known to improve the metabolism of the body. Circuit training and supersets will be of great benefit to your body.
Compound sets will also do you great. They need to eat the small frequent meals probably more than the other two do. Eating small frequent meals not only increase your metabolism, but reduces the chances of you overeating. By the time you have your next meal, you won’t be starving and therefore you won’t need to over indulge in food.
Ectomorphs are what pros refer to as hard gainers. Although they have low body fat percentage, it’s still hard for them to gain muscles. You will benefit more with heavy weight training. Eat frequently and use vitamin supplements. Whey is a definite requirement for you.
