In order for you to succeed in bodybuilding there are certain principles you need to abide by. They include the diet you are taking, the training you are using as well as adequate rest. Your diet needs to be suitable for bodybuilders so that you can manage to attain muscle gain. As a bodybuilder you are required to focus mostly on proteins since they are the building blocks of muscles. But this does not imply that carbohydrates do not have a major role to play in your bodybuilding progress.
Carbohydrates are very essential for a bodybuilder’s diet since they contain plenty of calories. They are used to generate the energy needed to train intensely in the gym. You should also include healthy fat in your diet since they are also very rich in calories. Healthy fat include vegetable oils which do not lead to heart conditions as is the case with other fats cooking oils.
You should not eat carbohydrates haphazardly; you are supposed to follow the following tips in order to maximize your carbohydrate intake;
1. You should take plenty of complex carbohydrates.
Complex carbohydrates are very rich in calories which act as the chief source of fuel for the body. When you increase your carb intake you will also increase your glycogen levels in the body. There are various sources of complex carbohydrates such as; yams, oatmeal, cassava, brown rice, and potatoes. Complex carbohydrates contain log chain sugars which are very effective in delaying fatigue when you are training in the gym. Complex long chain sugars also help a person to produce more insulin which helps increase the anabolism of a person. Your intake of carbohydrates should be three times your body weight if you are a man but if you are a woman your carbohydrate intake should be twice your body weight.
2. Take carbs rich in fiber
Some of the foods rich in fiber include; oat meal and beans. Fiber rich carbohydrates are very effective in enhancing the anabolism of a person. Fiber rich carbohydrates also help increase the uptake of sugars and amino acids in the body.
3. You are supposed to eat frequently
In order to increase your body mass you are supposed to increase your intake of calories and that is why you need to increase the frequency of your food intake. You should however not increase only your carbs intake but your protein intake as well. When you increase your frequency of eating you will be able to increase your body anabolism.
4. After each workout you should take simple carbs
Simple carbs are usually absorbed by the body very fast by the body. Simple carbs help increase the insulin levels in the body which is very important for a bodybuilder to train intensely in the gym. In order to prevent catabolism it is important to take plenty of simple carbs because of there ability to be absorbed by the body very fast. This quality ensures that the body is properly supplied with enough insulin.
