Breathing is very necessary when it comes to improving the body metabolism. Breathing exercises are very ancient and were used by the Chinese and Indians during yoga exercises. This form of exercise was reinvented recently and included in boy building training regimen. This is because even though weight training is anaerobic, it has been proven that breathing exercises will optimize the results. This is because simple breathing helps improve on muscle development and also toning work outs.

It is always recommended that before carrying out intense body building that you take a short time to do some breathing exercises because they are very necessary component in tone work outs.

If you are a serious body builder then you need to observe your breathing intensity and rhythm. When warming up to do very heavy exercises you just need to breathe in and out and avoid restrictive breathing. Restricted breathing usually arises as a result of bad posture, tight clothing and as such should be discouraged before a work out. Restricted breathing could also be due to poor health and therefore a person should take time to recover before doing any heavy work outs. The rate of breathing should be steady and regular and should range between 10 to 15 times per minute.

The next step after monitoring and examining your breathing intensity and rhythm, you need to get a comfortable lying position, or a comfortable sitting position while keeping your back straight and relaxed. If you want to experience conscious breathing control then you need to inhale deeply so as to be able to expand the lung muscles fully. At the same you should keep an eye on the navel area as it goes upwards or outwards.

After the deep inhalation movements you need gradually exhale and while at the same time imagining that the navel area has completely sunk towards the back bone. When you are exhaling ensure that you have completely emptied the lungs and then relax a little bit before inhaling the next air.

This part of the breathing cycles should be done without any speed because if you are very fast it might cause hyperventilation.

You should try and perform some breathing exercise before each work out session be it aerobics or weight training to facilitate good body relaxation and muscle development. When selecting the gym which you are going to be a member one of the factors on which you should base your decision is whether the gym has adequate space. This is because it is necessary for the body to receive constant supply of rich fresh air to avoid passing out while doing some intense work out due to lack of fresh air.

When you are performing the actual weight lifting you should inhale through the nose deeply so that you feel your lungs to maximum capacity. You should count one to five when doing this and at the same maintain consciousness of how the lungs are expanding. If you do this you will create enough room for air in the mouth.
