Accidents are prone to happen in the gym and indeed any place where there are people. Life and health are of the utmost importance and all should be done to maintain these two in near perfection. Because accidents will always happen at the times when they are least expected the best strategy will then be to have a sort of remedy nearby such that whatever the incident there will be a degree of assistance that can be called upon before an affected person is rushed to the nearest health care facility. The sort of assistance or remedy that is being described here has to do with the first aid toolkit. This article will look at some of the items that must always be present in the kit.
Before we get into the nitty-gritty you should first of all realize that such kits are not as expensive as the situation whereby an accident has occurred and there are no items available that can be employed to check the situation before advanced treatment is accessed. First aid toolkits are not prohibitively expensive and as such efforts should be made to include such a kit around the gym, in the vehicle, in the office, at home, and generally all places where people frequent for the simple reason that you never can tell when the next accident will show up. It is that serious. These kits are portable and are quite light weight such that it is not cumbersome to move them from one location to the next. What then should we always have in these kits?
1. Instant ice packs – These are quite essential in the effort of trying to manage the swelling that comes with sprains. As you know, the bodybuilder is often exposed to the risk of getting bruised or sprained more so when training with weights. The average kit will come with a single ice pack but some will come with a number of these.
2. Pain relievers – When an accident is incurred the affected person may be left writhing in pain and lots of discomfort and these have to be managed to ensure he or she is as comfortable as possible. Pain relievers are often in the form of pills and these should not lack in the kit.
3. Adhesive strips – These are ideal when you need to cover scrapes or slight cuts that may be caused by different items in the gym. Adhesive bandages come in a variety of sizes such that they can be used to cover wounds of different sizes. They are very handy in keeping the wound from getting infected.
4. Sting-relief swabs – These are mostly helpful, as the name suggests, when a person has been stung by say a bee or even a wasp. They work by curbing the swelling and they also contain medication to help in relieving the wound.
5. Iodine/Antiseptic swabs – These are useful in managing accidents that have been caused by burns or generally most types of wounds.
