Exercising has many benefits for both physical and mental health. Exercising is known to improve sleep, your emotional well being, weight loss, blood pressure and reducing the risk of a heart attack as well as increasing your life expectancy. There are several simple exercises you can do to stay in shape and feel you’re very best.
Walking is probably the simplest form of exercise but it does have a great list of advantages. Doctors suggest that just 30 minutes of walking at least three times a week can reduce the risk of heart disease and assist in losing a couple pounds. Not only is walking a free of charge exercise but walking also is great for your brain. Walking produces endorphins which are chemicals that help ease stress.
Running is also a free of charge exercise that has an ongoing list of advantages. Running or jogging helps reduce a loss in calories which results in weight loss, improves your body’s tone and flexibility and increases aerobic endurance. Jogging and running also helps reduce stress as well as lowering cholesterol levels and blood pressure. Running also one of the top exercises to overall improve your cardiovascular health.
Cycling is another great exercise. Cycling assists in strengthening lower, upper and core muscles as well as your heart and lungs. Cycling also increases bone density and muscle density which can prevent the development of osteoporosis. Like many exercises cycling also releases endorphins which give you a natural high and helps combat stress levels.
The last exercise suggested is swimming which involves all areas of the body specifically your heart, muscles and lungs. Swimming is also a great alternative exercise if you’ve been injured in a sport as swimming does not put pressure on a certain area of your body like other exercises may. Swimming is a great way to burn those extra calories you may have consumed. Swimming burns calories at a rate of 3 calories per mile per pound of body weight.
Exercising is a great way to stay in shape, feel refreshed and learn discipline. It can also be a good social outlet. Joining water aerobics classes, running in the park with a friend, joining spinning or cycling classes is a cool way to meet new people and share work out tips. If you seem to not be motivated to get out there and exercise then try giving yourself some incentives. An example would be rewarding yourself with $2.00 in your piggy bank, every time you work out in hopes of saving up for something you really want. All you need is a little determination, motivation and endurance and you will be on the road to a mentally and physically healthy body.
