1. Focus on free weights and cable exercises

The use of free weights and cable movements require a person to be very skilful compared to the use of machines. The use of free weights and cable movements also requires you to create muscular balance than the use of machines. The only disadvantage of free weights is that they are very difficult to balance the weights, and also coordinating the muscles. Although this might sound like a disadvantage at first glance it actually helps you to work the various muscle groups at the same time since you are using a greater range of motions to perform the lifts.

2. Focus on compound (multi joint and multi muscle) exercises.

You should not focus much on using isolation movements when you are training, instead focus on using compound movements. The advantage of compound exercises is that they utilise many muscle groups at the same time. If you want to lift the greatest loads you need to focus on isolation movements. Compound movement exercises also help you to increase your lean body muscles and rev your metabolism.

If you want to expose your quadriceps to great tension you should perform squats as opposed to leg extensions. If you want to develop your triceps you should focus on presses and dips.

3. Focus on super set exercises

You need to focus on performing antagonistic training. Antagonistic training are also referred to as non competing muscle group training. In order to perform antagonistic training you need to alternate the exercises that target the opposing muscle groups. The advantage of antagonistic training include; great strength level, quicker recovery, and shorter work out times. If you want to burn fat, antagonistic training can be of great help to you. This is because they help increase your metabolism and thus you burn more calories.

4. Rest for about 60 second between the sets

Rest is very important if you want to develop your muscles. You should however ensure that you do not rest for more that one minute between the sets. If you want to stay focused to your training, you should ensure that your rest periods are not very long. When you rest for about 60 seconds in each set, you will be able to force your muscles to recover fast and also rev up your nervous system.

5. Each session should contain six to eight exercises

In each session you should ensure that you focus on compound movement exercises. As explained earlier compound movement exercises are very effective in increasing a person’s metabolism causing them to burn more calories and lose weight. This however does not mean that you should neglect isolation movements totally.
