There are some habits that you may have picked up innocently along the way, ignorant of the effect they have on your body. Here are a few of the basic mistakes commonly made that you should kick out of your system as soon as you can.
1.A is for Alcohol
Believe me you are not alone on this one especially in this present day and age. If you’re used to getting home after work and relaxing on the sofa with a can of beer In hand, then you need to find a better way of relaxing. If you come straight from the gym and grab a cold beer as you rest, you need as much help as you can get. I’m not talking about alcoholics; I’m simply talking even to the guys who take only one beer a day. Alcohol lowers the level of testosterone in your body meaning that your body wont burn as much fat as it would have. Alcohol also contains a lot if empty calories which the body will burn to get its energy, meaning that the food that you had eaten will barely get touched but will be stored up as fat.
2. B is for Binge eating
Ever walked into the kitchen like a zombie and eaten so much in just a few minutes you thought you’d throw up. You then leave the kitchen with so much guilt you go sulk on the sofa with a tab of ice cream to console yourself. Well I know how it feels like better than you can imagine. What you need to do is eat frequently during the day such that your body doesn’t feel starved. By doing this, you reduce the need to eat until you feel like throwing up. You can also come up with a small punishment like 50 pushups every time you do it. Your mind will start associating binging with the pushups you don’t like and will soon stop you cold on your tracks.
3. Eating before you sleep
Sorry I couldn’t make it start with a C! Oh well, this is a habit that is so distractive you won’t believe it. Your body will only get the nutritional and energy it requires from your food at that particular time, anything extra is quickly converted into fat and stores up somewhere around your waistline and thighs! The only thing your body does as you sleep is simply breathe and turn from time to time. Surely this doesn’t call for a pre-workout meal! Realistically speaking, rarely will you go grab some salad from the fridge. It will either be a sandwich of sorts or worse, ice cream and crisps. Carbohydrates are burnt by the body to produce energy; eating starch before you sleep is a recipe for doom! If you have to take a glass of milk before bed so that you sleep like a baby, then try some low fat milk. Don’t get me started about midnight snacks!
