Building muscle certainly takes a lot of strength and determination, yet is worth every effort that is put in. If you are looking to build muscle, you probably want to do so quickly. Keep in mind that while there are faster ways to build muscle mass, it will still take time to reach your goal. Ultimately, it is best not to be misguided by diets and workout fads that promise big muscles quick. Instead, taking a few steps on your own will help ensure that you get the results you want as quick as possible.
Lifting weights is the single most important way to build muscle. Lifting weights exceeds other types of workouts because you cannot keep adding resistance with these other workouts as you do with weight lifting. There are many different types of exercises that you can do to help build muscle and they should incorporate both compound and isolation exercises.
Compound exercises work multiple muscle groups, while isolation exercises target specific muscles. Examples of compound exercises include squats and the bench press, and isolation exercises include leg extensions and dumbbells. It is important to use both types of exercises as they contribute to the overall growth of the muscles.
Another way to build fast muscles is by increasing the weight you lift over time. Without adding more weight to your routine, you will not continue to have growth. This concept is known as Progressive Overload. A good way to know if you are ready to add weight is if you are not struggling by the last set of reps.
In order to build muscle fast, you will also need to train until you can’t anymore, or until the point of muscular failure. Although you may struggle to do that last set of reps, doing so forces stimulates the growth mechanisms needed for muscle mass. If you continue to give up right before you reach this point, you will not see muscle growth.
Also be sure to keep workouts about 45 minutes to one hour. After you reach this point, hormones in the body are released and can actually prevent you from building muscle mass. These catabolic hormones are responsible for breaking down the muscles after a certain point in the workout, so keeping workouts under an hour is most beneficial.
Besides weight training, having the proper diet is also important to building fast muscle. Focus on a diet rich in proteins, such as meats, nuts, whole wheat pasts, soy, and eggs. You do not need an overload of protein, but certainly more than someone who is not training to build muscle.
Also be sure to give your body the proper nutrients it needs to successfully train and build muscle. You do not want to deprive your body of anything, so be sure to drink plenty of water to keep the body hydrated and free of toxins. Also eat the right amount of calories so that your body has the energy to grow and build muscle.
