Sometimes injuries are inevitable especially when you are training with weights. However although weight training is risky, it has many benefits.
Some of the benefits include;
It helps reduce the adverse effects of aging such as osteoporosis thus you will be able to enjoy your old age, it helps enhance your strength and flexibility because it leads to an increase in muscle size, weight training also help you boost your metabolism because it leads to an increase in lean muscle tissues, weight training leads to loss of fat as a result of increase in body metabolism, weight training also improves you posture because it increase the ratio of muscles to fat, if you are an athlete then weight training will help you boost your performance, weight training is also useful in boosting your psychological health.
If you carefully consider all the above benefits then you will see that you cannot do away with weight training because they could lead to gym injuries. The only thing you can do is to come up with ways which can help you reduce gym injuries.
In order to prevent gym injuries you need to observe the following;
1. Do some warm ups before the actual workout
The best way to stimulate the muscles to be able to withstand heavy lifting is through warming up. This is because warm up exercises helps increase the body temperature and metabolism. This warm up exercises should be done for at least ten minutes for them to be effective in jump starting the metabolic process. A bodybuilder also needs to ensure that they undertake light stretching exercises fifteen minutes before the actual workout. This is very important because it increases the flexibility of the trainer. Flexibility is a very important factor when it comes to reducing gym injuries. When you omit stretching exercises from your training regimen the supporting muscles tissues when you are lifting weights become very stiff and thus the groove of your training program will be compromised. When you training groove is compromised it becomes very easy to incur a gym injury.
2. Avoid training without proper form
The other thing you need to emphasize before weight training is to maintain proper movements. You need to avoid jerking, bouncing or partial movements when lifting weights. When you do this the net results will be cheating and hence you will not be able to expend the required amount of energy demanded by each set. Not only will this affect the effectiveness of your training in producing muscle growth but it will also put you at risk of getting a gym injury due to dropping weights.
3. Do not over train
Do not over train your muscle tissue so that you can observe the cliché ‘no pain no gain’. This will be detrimental to your muscle growth because the muscles need time to recover and grow. Overtraining could also put you at risk of getting gym injuries because you won’t be able to properly maneuver the heavy weights when they start falling.
