pmXfit – The Ultimate Training System!
The playoffs have arrived, and your team is in the mix! This can throw many bodybuilders into a tizzy. You want to sit at home and watch your favorite team slug it out in the conference semi-finals, but you don’t want to miss your training session. Here is a nice method for enjoying a moderately good leg and cardio training session while not missing a moment of your game! The only equipment you will need is a pair of 50 pound dumbbells and a little room to move around.
Squats
The recipe for the first quarter is simple. Squat for high repetitions with a 50-pound dumbbell in each hand. Watch the game while you do it. You’ll find yourself training longer and harder than ever before, because you won’t be noticing how painful the movement is, or how tired you are. You’ll be noticing how well your team is doing, and before you know it, your legs will be pumped with nitrogen-rich blood.
Lunges
Once you complete your squats, move on to lunges with a dumbbell in each hand. They’re easy to complete, and a tad less taxing than the squats you just finished. Keep the reps high, the movement slow, and work to flex the glutes with each movement. About 30 minutes of these and you will be spent!
Stiff-legged deadlifts
This exercise will be used to hit the hamstrings. Complete them during commercials so you don’t miss a minute of the action. The harder you flex the hamstrings and keep the legs straight during the movement, the more effectively you will hit the leg biceps.
Calf jumps
This exercise is rarely used by bodybuilders because it looks a little silly and doesn’t involve any weight. However, for adding strength and size to the calves, it’s very effective. Stand with your hands by your side. Jump as high as you can, using your arms to swing you. Repeat for about 20 repetitions, then take a 3 minute break. Repeat. Continue for about 20 minutes, or until your calves are cramped beyond belief!
Additional
A fan is always nice for keeping the room cool when you’re working out this hard in a confined space. Keep lots of bottled water on hand do you don’t become dehydrated during your long games. Use commercial breaks to run to the bathroom or change up exercises. You may soon discover that you are able to actually complete a greater amount of work during the setting of a game. Knocking out 10 sets of calf raises in the gym might be unheard of. However, 30 minutes of calf jumps, on and off as you need breaks, during a very close fourth quart showdown, will fly by. You’ll see new growth, and you won’t miss the time. Additionally, the added adrenaline rush and testosterone release (winning is anabolic, of course!) will help you to grow further.
Life is about balance. Training is important, but so is enjoying your favorite sports teams when they reach the pinnacle of their season.
