If you have been trying to lose weight for some time but you have not managed to succeed then it is time you considered strength training.
Why don’t conventional diets work?
If you have tried to lose weight by going on a conventional diet I will explain to you why you have never succeeded to lose weight. The reason is because when you go on these diets you end up losing your muscles which is a very bad thing if you want to lose weight. This is because muscle tissues are active tissues and there require a lot of calories so that they can be sustained. You burn around 35 calories with each pound of muscle you have in your body.
Why you lose muscles when you go on conventional diets
The reason why you end up losing your muscles as a result of going on conventional diets is because the body goes into starvation mode. When the body goes into starvation mode it starts preserving energy by burning muscles instead of body fat.
Why you gain weight due to conventional diet
Conventional diets make you gain weight because when the body is in starvation mode it does not burn fat but instead it burns muscles. The other reason is that due to the depletion of body muscles the body’s metabolism decreases. When your body metabolism decreases then this means that you will not be able to burn a lot of calories.
Why do you gain weight when you age?
The reason is because when you age you become inactive and this will make you lose around one and a half pound of muscle each year. Although you have become inactive you have not changed your eating habits. Therefore since your calorie intake is the same but your muscles are depleting then this means that you will have excess calories in your system. When there are excess calories in the body they will be converted and stored as fat. Since fat is less dense than muscles then this means that you could be able to regain your body weight although your body fat is increasing.
The key to losing weight
The key to losing weight is to undertake strength training exercises. When you undertake strength training exercises you will be able to rev up your metabolism processes. In fact strength training can prove to be very effective in helping a person lose weight than aerobic exercises. When you are strength training you will be able to increase your (resting metabolic rate) RMR permanently while aerobic exercises only increase the RMR temporarily. The RMR is responsible for the burning of 65-70 percent of the calories you burn daily. So even if you increase your RMR just slightly you will still be able to burn plenty of calories.
If you have been avoiding lifting weights then you need to understand that this is the key to losing weight permanently. You therefore need to join a gym and start working-out.
