The reason could be that the training regimen you are using is not meant for your body structure. When you are choosing the type of training regimen you are going to use, the type of body structure you have will determine the exact training regimen you are going to use. If your body structure is endormorphic then this means you are overweight. If your body structure is ectomorphic then this means you have difficulty in gaining weight. However if your body structure is mesormophic then this means you have a perfect shape which is not too fat and neither is it skinny, you are in between this two extremes. When you have such a body structure then this means you will be able to lose weight and gain muscles at the same time without spending a lot of time in the gym.
Therefore many people end up losing faith in there endeavor to gain mass simply because the training regimen they are using is not meant for people with ectomorphic type of body structure. You could be using the same training regimen that a person trying to lose weight uses.
There are seminars which offer to give advice on ways in which you can be able to put on more mass or weight. However they are not so many since majority of the population are more concerned about how they can be able to lose weight. This puts people trying to gain weight in a difficult spot because they lack all the relevant information to help them gain weight. Some of them even take steroids the so called wonder pills with the hope that it will make them gain weight fast. What they fail to consider is that these drugs come with various side effects such as; enlargement of the clitoris, shrinking testicles, low libido, low sperm count, impotence in men, loss of hair, growth of facial hair in women, coarse voice in women, irregularity in there menstrual cycle, increase in aggression, heart problems, liver conditions, kidney problems and sleeping disorders.
Therefore for you to be able to gain weight without compromising your health you need to follow three fundamental routines which are; proper training, increase your calorie intake and rest properly.
1. Proper Training
The type of training a person seeking to put on more body mass should focus mainly on weight lifting and not aerobic exercises. The reason why you need to limit the aerobic exercises is because they lead to catabolism when done in excess and also make you burn plenty of calories. Instead of aerobic exercises you need to focus more on weight lifting since they lead to increase in muscles. You need to ensure that the weight gain is as a result of muscles and not fat.
2. Increase Your Calories
When you increase your calories you will be able to increase your body mass since calories play a major role in helping you train intensely in the gym. Calories are the fuels of the body.
3. Rest
You need to rest in between workouts so that the training becomes effective and also to minimize the effects of catabolism.
