Protein Supplements – A Necessary Step For Muscle Growth
If you will ask me for an advice on what is the best protein to build muscle, I would say outright that it is protein supplements. Whey protein is the highest selling protein supplement in the market today. And there is a reason for that. The reason is because whey protein has the highest biological value among all protein types. It rates highest at a score of 149 points. This simply means that whey proteins generate more muscle tissues than other protein supplements. Another good reason for the increasing popularity of whey protein is because it is easy to digest. It gets digested fast and is immediately utilized for muscle growth and repair. It is best taken during and after an intense workout in the gym.
Whey protein is derived from cow’s milk. When processing whey, they remove the curds. The remaining liquid is processed and whey proteins are extracted. There are two types of whey protein that can be processed. The whey concentrates is one of those. Whey concentrates is the least pure forms. Though still very high protein content at 75% to 85%, other components are fats and lactose. If you don’t really mind a small amount of fat in your diet and if you are not lactose intolerant, whey concentrates can be the best protein to build muscle for you.
Another type of whey protein is whey isolates. This is the best protein to build muscle since it has the purest protein content of up to 100%. This supplement provides the best protein to build muscle at its purest form. This will also mean more value in terms of money. But it will provide best results when combined with an effective muscle workout at the gym. It is best taken during or right after a workout.
There is another milk derived protein supplement that will be best protein to build muscle over an extended period of time. Whey protein is effective during or after a workout, but there should be a sustained protein supply during days when you don’t have to go to the gym. This is where casein will come helpful. Casein protein is also from milk and like whey it also scores a high biologic value points. The only difference is that it is digested slowly for up to 5 hours. Because of this feature, casein is the helpful in providing sustained protein on days in between the gym.
