Reasons Why Fad Diets Won’t Make You Lose Weight

It is only natural to strive to lose weight if you are obese. Losing weight will help develop confidence and self confidence since the two are closely linked with liking your appearance. Simply put, if you like the way you look you are also going to feel good about yourself. Many articles will try to convince you that in order to lose weight you are supposed to go on a fad diet. This however is not true, fad diets will make you gain weight instead of losing it. The problem with fad diets is that they will make your body to go into starvation mode. When the body is in starvation mode it will try to conserve energy by burning muscles instead of fat so that it can be able to preserve energy. Your body muscle percentage will therefore get depleted and this will cause your metabolism to slow down. When your body metabolism slows down you will not be able to burn a lot of calories. Your body fat percentage is also going to increase since it is not being burnt to generate energy. If you go on these fad diets you are going to gain weight rather than lose it.

There are other advertisements which will try to convince you that you should take steroids in order to lose weight. They are more concerned about getting your money with little regards to your health. Steroids will make you experience the following side effects; enlargement of the clitoris, shrinking of the testicles, low sperm count, decreased sex drive, growth of breasts in men, women develop bass in there voice, increased aggression, depression, suicidal tendencies, insomnia, withdrawal syndrome, liver ailments, heart complications, high blood pressure and kidney problems. If you want to lose weight you should not use steroids but use natural means instead.

In order to lose weight you are supposed to follow four strategies. We will start with looking at the issue of motivation since it is the most important part of your weight gaining strategy. If you are a hard gainer your fast metabolism will prevent you from gaining weight. If you are not highly motivated then you are likely to give up if you do not gain weight fast. You should not lose hope if you do not start realizing fast weight gain since it might take some time before your body starts responding to the training and the new diet.

The second strategy involves eating proper meals so that your body does not go into starvation mode. Your meals should contain carbohydrates, proteins, healthy vitamins and healthy fat. Your carbs intake should however be reduced and at the same time you should increase your protein intake so that your body does not experience starvation mode and at the same time you do not lose your muscles.

The third strategy involves weight training exercises. This form of exercise will help increase your lean body muscles and this is good for your body metabolism. Your body metabolism will increase and you will be able to burn more calories.

The fourth strategy involves cardio exercises. Cardio exercises include activities such as walking, jogging, walking the treadmill, aerobic classes and bike riding. Cardio exercises will help increase your body metabolism and you will be able to burn more calories.
