pmXfit – The Ultimate Training System!
Have you been experiencing shortness of breath after you complete each set in the gym? Here are a few questions to ask yourself if you’d like to make this problem stop before it interrupts your training.
Is this a new condition?
Have you always had shortness of breath when training? Or is it something new? If it has arrived suddenly, consult a doctor as soon as possible.
Are you using steroids?
The use of AAS changes a lot of things in your body, and raises blood pressure at the same time. If this is a problem, shortness of breath can follow.
What rep scheme are you using?
The heavier weights you use, the fewer repetitions you will be able to complete. Heavier weights mean you’ll be more winded.
How much time do you wait between sets?
If you spend less than one minute resting between sets, you run the risk of not giving your body adequate time to recover from the set before. This can lead to a situation where not enough oxygen is present for the next demanding set, which can lead to a shortness of breath. Take longer breaks, and see if it helps solve this problem.
What is your blood pressure?
Visit a local pharmacy or even your neighborhood Wal-Mart and have your blood pressure checked. If it falls into a dangerous level, see a doctor or adjust your lifestyle accordingly to correct the situation.
How many caffeine products do you use?
The most stimulants in your body, the greater chance that constriction that can occur in your blood vessels. Don’t let this happen. Reduce your stimulant income if you see this problem occurring.
What is your body fat percentage?
The higher the body fat you carry, the harder it will be to breathe. Cut the sugars and fats from your diet, and get down to a manageable 12% body fat, and breathing will get easier!
How much cardio are you currently doing per week?
If you’re not using any cardio currently, it is probably the reason for your poor lung conditioning. Add three sessions of 20 minutes per week and see your performance improve greatly.
How old are you?
The older you get, the more out of breath you may become between sets. Some chalk this up to old age, but there is a natural decrease in oxygen flow that occurs as one ages. All you can do to combat it is work harder to keep yourself in better cardiovascular shape.
When was your last doctor’s appointment?
Bodybuilders, even young ones who don’t use steroids, should have their blood panels run once every two years. Those using steroids should have their levels checked before and after each steroid cycle.
Have you gotten your heart checked lately?
Some people begin feeling shortness of breath when their heart isn’t pumping blood as it should. If all else is the same, but you’re getting less oxygen, you should immediately contact a doctor and have your heart function checked out. You can never be too careful, especially with the demands you place upon your body.
