A little rage can be a very good thing.
When you have just failed on a bench press attempt in front of a crowd of disappointed onlookers, you’re angry. And when you get under the bar the next time, you somehow find that extra 5% you were lacking on your last attempt, and you move that bar up. When you were just defeated onstage by a man with poorer conditioning, weaker legs and arms, and a terrible posing routine with only a slightly better back, your anger-fueled workouts come back day are going to lead to some significant improvements in this muscle group.
