Bodybuilding is a lifestyle and becoming a bodybuilder means transforming your life wholesomely into a totally different perspective. Whenever body building is segmented as an activity, the gains accrued are limited and marginalized.

Life throws a lot of curveballs at us. We might be living large, on top of the world, when a drunk driver might come out of nowhere and leave us without a car or worse, the use of our legs. We might have everything planned for work, home, and other paths of life, when suddenly a health scare to ourselves or a family member will leave everything up in the air. Finally, in these tough and unsure economic times in which we live, it’s always just a matter of time until our job security disappears or our 401k retirement savings suddenly lose a great deal of their value. As strong and independent human beings, we have no choice when this happens but to keep on forging ahead, the only way we know how to do. And part of forging ahead involves working hard to remain in our best possible physical condition. Let’s focus upon a few areas of concern that will arise, should we face a break form our traditional bodybuilding lifestyle.

You might think of bodybuilding programs in the form of how you can attain the same result by doing the same thing in two different ways. One of the ways could be effective while the other could be ineffective for you. For instance, you can let the weights rule your body and make you feel the movement of muscles as they gather momentum. With time, the routines become comfortable, making you become a better bodybuilder. Make the weights become part of your routine and you will be on your way to bodybuilding glory.

DOMS is one malady with which every bodybuilder worth his salt is very experienced. Short for Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, DOMS is the condition you experience 1 to 3 days following your workout, with the absolute peak occurring 48 hours after the conclusion of your routine. DOMS is characterized by localized pain or stiffness in a muscle group. It is worse upon waking in the morning, or after sitting in one position for an extended period of time. DOMS effects are known by anyone who’s ever completed a serious workout. The effects of DOMS lessen over time. The more years you have in the gym, the less soreness you face following each workout. Still, at all levels of bodybuilding, you expect some level of soreness and stiffness in the days that follow a tough workout. Despite all the great genes, protein-rich diets, supplements and gear, some things never change. DOMS is a real part of the bodybuilding lifestyle.
