The reason could be that the training regimen you are using is not meant for your body structure. If your body structure is endormorphic then this means you are overweight. If your body structure is ectomorphic then this means you have difficulty in gaining weight. However if your body structure is mesormophic then this means you have a perfect shape which is not too fat and neither is it skinny, you are in between this two extremes. When you have such a body structure then this means you will be able to lose weight and gain muscles at the same time without spending a lot of time in the gym.
