Steroidal supplements are substances that were until recently recognized as non-prescription drugs that could be purchased over the counter at many different department stores and pharmacies. All these changed in 2005 when laws were passed to the effect that these substances were classified differently and as a consequence, clamps were placed on the manufacture and distribution of these medications. The chief concern here was the fact that there could be similarities between them and the conventional anabolic steroids. Of particular issue was the fact that many were concerned about the effects that would be imparted on the body if and when they were used into the long term.
Steroidal supplements were traditionally used to bolster the gains that were made in the body following the consumption of a proper diet. These substances were known to be quite helpful in the development of the body and their consumption was known to result in manageable levels of testosterone or androgen, or a substance that shared the properties of these two hormones. The gains made in the short term were quite welcome but the worry began to creep in when it was doubted if the same effects that are known to stem from anabolic steroid use would be the same ones to be experienced after using the steroidal supplements. This was the very cause of the drastic action that was taken in 2005.
The very notion that the continued use of these substances would result in an increment in the body strength and the amplification of the size of body muscles was the reason behind the supposed popularity of both anabolic steroids and steroidal supplements. This reasoning was confirmed by a research that was carried out. The results indicated that there was a rise of 6% in the respondents who indicated that the substances were popular. The results also showed a 10% increment in the number of people who conceded that they were on either of the substances. If by any chance there is a doubt about these statistics then one ,simply needs to look at the records and he/she will surely note the number of increased convictions more so among the juvenile category. Juveniles were reported to be after the steroidal supplements while the anabolic steroids were left to the big boys and girls; the professional bodybuilders. Concern is rife that these statistics may serve to deal a body blow to the efforts that are being made to try and put an end or a total clamp on the use of steroids.
The choice to use either of these options largely lies upon the discretion of the user. It is the person who makes the final assessment over what medication to get hooked on. With the passing of the ban on these two alternatives it has obviously become hard even for the users to distinguish what is the anabolic steroid and what is the steroidal supplement. There are lots of products offered over the Internet and the black market that are clandestinely packaged and one can never be too sure about what they are using.
