Burnout is a word frequently used in sports circles. Many bodybuilders have failed to comprehend that burnout happens to be such a phenomenon that is mired in complexity and have such adverse and detrimental effects. Burnout is very different from overtraining but many bodybuilders always confuse between the two. Emaciation and tired joints is different from a burnout. Burnout is even much worse.
Burnout is said to be a psychological, physical withdrawal and emotional condition from such a formerly enjoyable kind of sport caused by excessive stress that act upon the athlete or bodybuilding over a certain period of time. It is also a multi-dimensional thing which could create such a vast and negative impact upon the body system of a bodybuilder who has been in competitive contention eventually causes the bodybuilder to quit and stop competing.
Burnout can easily be identified and split in three distinct phases. These phases include emotional exhaustion, reduced senses in personal accomplishment and depersonalization.
Emotional Exhaustion
In terms of burnout, emotional exhaustion in the body system of a bodybuilder affects the individual’s feelings mostly concerned with emotions which could extend by the burnout activity in the body.
Depersonalization
This is mostly used to measure the extent of burnout in relation to an individual’s lack in personalised feelings that are levelled towards different individuals mostly with whom they share contact closely.
Decrease in Accomplishment
This fact is well used on bodybuilders in the measurement of how certain individuals which view their success in a negative manner as well as their achievement.
This different phases are known to affect bodybuilders in a different manner and in specific varied times. On the other hand burnout is known to be unstatic though the three known phases interact in a progressive fashion as the levels of burnout happen to increase. The three phases characterised by emotions when they have afflicted a body builder are clear signs of acute and diverse stages that manifest themselves in a burnout cycle.
In addition, depersonalization is clearly felt around the initial onset in a burnout cycle and it is also viewed as being the lowest level in a burnout stage. Around this specific time a bodybuilder is known to become progressively withdrawn in a way from friends as well as family members caused by a manifestation of negative feelings which are affecting the bodybuilder in that specific sport situation which are hand in hand with the mental distress as physical emaciation that burnout is causing.
The intensity of burnout over a certain period increases and results in a body builder having no otherwise but to decrease in their personal accomplishment. This then leaves the bodybuilder feeling adversely that the achievements they have had and made in the past were in no way worth the extra sacrifices they had put in the whole process. Eventually it follows that the bodybuilder suffers emotional exhaustion which in essence is the highest and advanced phase of in the levels of burnout as the bodybuilder continues to be completely exhausted and emaciated by his/her situation as well as the demands associated with his/her bodybuilding duties.
It is also possible for a bodybuilder to also be affected by burnout within the three components all at once. After this occurs the bodybuilder could be seen to be withdrawn from the sport, sometimes even permanently as they try to release their selves from the tentacles of all the negative emotions affecting them.
