Bodybuilding should never be segmented in your life as an activity you undertake or participate in when you have the time. Bodybuilding is not a leisure activity or an extra-curriculum activity. Bodybuilding is a lifestyle and becoming a bodybuilder means transforming your life wholesomely into a totally different perspective. Whenever body building is segmented as an activity, the gains accrued are limited and marginalized.
Bodybuilding is much more then exercising. Actually, much of body building occurs outside the gym. Bodybuilding in its truest nature, incorporates a distinct mental attitude, a specific eating habit, a precise dieting retinue, a definite sleeping pattern, an articulate way of doing things, a convention of lifestyle decisions and more importantly a distinct behavior. Body building is a way of life, a life on its own. The moment an individual decides to venture into the practice, he or she must transform the lifestyle previously cherished, he or she must formulate a different approach to living, he or she must acquire a different mentality, he or she must accept new challenges and ultimately he or she must change priorities.
Going out with friends for a night-long clubbing, drinking to the birth of dawn, eating junk for lunch, missing meals, eating exclusively in hotels, disregarding a healthy square breakfast or sleeping whenever and however are part of the past. The moment a bodybuilder initiates a training program, he or she must transform to adopt new practices and shed of the ones mentioned above.
A bodybuilder remains a bodybuilder whether in the office or at home. Going to the gym is part of being a body builder but not the wholesome component. How one thinks, what one does and what one feels must correspond to being a body builder at all times if any gains are going to made in the bodybuilding training program. A successful body builder learns early how to make body building part of everything they do. They integrate body building into their social lives, into their work life and into their family life. They maintains strict diets even while in parties, they leave the bar earlier than their friends in the evening so that they have time to sleep as scheduled. These body builders have no problem socializing because their friends and acquaintances know what they do and don’t do, on basis of being serious body builders.
Successful bodybuilders will still watch TV and take out the garbage, but they will not miss out on a training session because they have a match to watch. Being a body builder means you have to sacrifice some of the activities you previously enjoyed if only to save on time for workouts and adequate sleep. When body building becomes a life, you adopt a particular sleeping pattern, a specific eating behavior and a particular attitude to life. Priorities must reflect your body building objectives. Body building must become your life, it must be integrated into every area of your life, it must blend harmoniously with all other priorities and most importantly, it must be made an essential part of your daily activities.
