Top 5 Training Myths You Need to Avoid For Great Results
The sport of bodybuilding just like any other sport contains several lies or myths. This article will examine a few of them which are very common;
1. There is no professional bodybuilder who has used steroids
If there is a great lie in bodybuilding this has to be the biggest and in fact it is usually spread by those professional bodybuilders themselves. This is because they do want to appear as if they are using since some bodybuilding competitions prohibit the use of steroids.
The majority of bodybuilders you see on TV and many and on the front cover of many magazines used steroids in order to get where they are. If you are an average weightlifter, do not expect to look like the professional bodybuilders if you do not incorporate steroids into your training regimen. You should however note that steroids come with certain side effects namely; enlargement of the clitoris, shrinking testicles, low libido, low sperm count, impotence in men, loss of hair, growth of facial hair in women, coarse voice in women, irregularity in there menstrual cycle, increase in aggression, heart problems, liver conditions, kidney problems and sleeping disorders.
2. For you to make progress in the gym you should work a minimum of three days in a week.
This is also another common lie spread among bodybuilders. If you want to completely transform your body and develop well developed full grown muscles then you need to concentrate on the quality of your training and not the hours spend training. You should make sure that even if you train for only two days in a week, those two days count a lot. Make sure you use all the appropriate techniques such as compound movements and resistance training.
3. High reps workout will lead to body toning
This is also another common myth especially among women seeking to tone there bodies. If you truly want to tone your body then I suggest you do aerobic exercises and take adequate dietary measures to reduce your fat content. Toning can be defined as having a body whose muscles are well defined. The reason why people have muscles which are not well defined is due to fat deposits in the body.
4. Eating a meal before sleep will help reduce fat
This statement is very incorrect and absurd. The habit of eating before bed should be strictly prohibited. This is because the body metabolism is at its minimum when you are sleeping. Therefore you should avoid eating three hours prior to taking your nap.
If you do this, the food you take will be stored in the body as fat since the body will be unable to burn it. The best time to eat should be at least eight hours prior to your sleep.
5. If you want to lose weight you should prolong your cardio exercises
This lie has made many people fail to lose weight. You should not extend your cardio exercises for more than twenty minutes otherwise you will be enhancing catabolic activities.
