Before your workout:
Before you workout you must take in carbohydrates, protein and water. If you struggle to gain weight it is important to take in a lot of carbohydrates from fast digesting sources such as white rice, bread or protein shakes. The amount of carbohydrates and protein in your body during training is critical to your gains.
During your workout:
Drink as much water as you can. Also, sip on a protein and carbohydrate drink to keep your body in an anabolic state during your workouts.
After your workout:
Your post workout meal is your most important meal. After workouts your body craves nutrients and it must get an adequate supply in order to grow. Eat a meal that is loaded with protein, carbohydrates and healthy fats. This will keep your body in an anabolic state after training aim for 50-100g of carbohydrates (if you struggle to gain weight you can even go for 150g).
Recovery:
To speed up recovery take in easily digested protein sources such as whey protein, egg whites and white fish. Take 30-50g immediately, then later on eat slower digesting protein sources such as chicken, meat, whole eggs and casein protein. Getting enough fats are also important, fats taken after hard training will boost your immune system as well as testosterone levels.
