Water is the one of the most important requirements to every single living creature on earth. It is the most abundant component on the earth’s surface and this is just an indication of how vital it is for the sustenance of life on earth. Not only does it cover most of the earth’s surface but it also forms the bigger part of your body’s composition. This means that you have to work at maintaining this balance. If you don’t try to do this, your body will remind you in a very painful way that you need to drink water. If you have ever suffered from constipation and had pipes stuck in your ass then you will agree with me that your body in its own special way will remind you to drink water. You also tend to feel light headed and tired when you don’t have enough water in your body. Dehydration may also cause back pain, disorientation and even stomach ulcers.
The fact that you are a bodybuilder means that on average, your body looses more water than that of a non- athletic person. When you do all those exercises your body heats up. Sweating is a cooling mechanism that the body uses to enable it to take back its temperature to a normal degree. There are many biological and chemical processes that can only occur in the right conditions of temperature and so without the use of water to cool the body, these processes will not occur.
Water is also used by the body as a means through which the body removes any unwanted substances from the body. Waste is a byproduct of nearly all the process that occurs in the body. If these substances are left to accumulate, they will be toxic to the body and will be equivalent to poisoning it. Urine, feces, sweat and tears are all different forms of secretions that excrete wastes from the body. What water does to your system is equivalent to flushing a toilet. Water flushes out all the waste products from the body and helps retain a non-toxic environment where all body processes occur.
It is useful in maintaining an optimum pH in the body. It reduces the body’s acidity and eases and prevents heart burn. There are many processes that can only take place in the presence of water while there are others that use water as a reactant. It plays a very vital role in the digestion of food as well a in the transportation and absorption of it. It is the chief transporting medium that forms most of the volume of blood. In essence, it is responsible for the transportation of oxygen, nutrients and energy around the body. The fact that it is present in all cells makes it possible for both diffusion and osmosis to take place. If you want to burn some fat then this is for you; water is used in the metabolism of fats. That’s the reason why every fat loss article will mention the importance of drinking a lot of it. Drink as much as humanly possible.
